The effect of atomic chemical bonding under fast ion stopping in solids

Description
Electronic stopping cross-sections of Li+ ions are calculated for a series of ionic crystals. Cation and anion contributions to the electronic stopping cross-sections are given. The ion bonding effect on the decreasing cross-sections compared to free atoms is mainly accounted for by the ion stopping variation on cations
