Comparative immunological analyses of anti-deoxynucleotide and anti-sDNA antibodies
Description
Antibodies to deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) are found spontaneously occurring in humans with the autoimmune disease Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). These antibodies, reacting with single-stranded DNA (sDNA), double-stranded DNA (nDNA) and individual deoxyribonucleotides, have been implicated in the immunopathological effects of this disease. We have analyzed the immune response of rabbits and mice to sDNA and nucleotide-protein conjugates to obtain information on the formation of these antibodies
