Charmed hybrids in proton antiproton annihilation

Description
Mesons with an excited gluon flux in between the quarks are called hybrid mesons and are under investigation since more than one decade. The properties of hybrid mesons are still under debate. This situation will improve dramatically when moving from the fully non-perturbative regime to heavy quarks where lattice gauge theory is more reliable, the states are much narrower and the density of states is much lower. The mass spectrum of charmed hybrids, proposed production and decay mechanisms, analysis techniques and detector requirements to meet the physics goals are discussed. An actual experiment is proposed as part of the PANDA experiment at the GSI Future Project
