H-alpha line in 36 Lyncis. II. Reticon observations of line variability
Description
High-resolution, high signal-to-noise spectroscopic observations at H-alpha of the helium-weak star 36 Lyncis (HD 79158) confirm the lack of emission and lack of line asymmetry reported earlier, but do reveal line-strength variability on a rapid time scale. This result is discussed in relation to a magnetospheric oblique rotator model recently proposed to explain the known C IV ultraviolet line and magnetic-field variability of the star. 18 refs
