Removal of 239Pu, internally deposited in mice, by means of diethylenetriaminepentamethylenephosphonates
- 1. Institute of Nuclear Research, Warsaw (Poland)
Description
Sodium salts of calcium diethylenetriaminepentamethylene-phosphonic acid chelates (Na8[CaDTPP] and Na6[Ca2DTPP] have been used to remove 239Pu from mice. Comparison of the decontaminating efficiency and toxicity of the mono-and bicalcium chelates showed that Na6[Ca2DTPP] was both less toxic and more efficient as a plutonium-removing agent. Na6[Ca2DTPP] was found to be slightly less effective and insignificantly more toxic than the commonly used chelate of diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid, Na3[CaDTPA]. (UK)
