ESR of Mn2+ centers in a regular environment in KCl crystal

  • 1. AN SSSR, Leningrad. Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst.

Description

the paper deals with observation of Mn2+ ions in a regular environment in KCl crystal. KCl crystals with manganese addition have been subjected to X-radiation with the aim to create Mn+ ions in regular environment. Then by optical irradiation in the Mn+ ion absorption band these ions have been ionized as a result of which Mn2+ ions have been formed. The analysis of the ESR spectrum of Mn2+ ions has shown that in the nearest environment of Mn2+ center there are no defects. It is shown that these centers remain stable up to 400K, however cation vacancies gradually approach Mn2+ ions
