Depth profile of 137Cs, 239+240Pu and 241Am in black cotton soil under constant flooding and pick-up of these nuclides by grass growing in that soil

  • 1. Tarapur Atomic Power Station (India). Environmental Survey Lab.

Description

Knowledge of the behaviour of the radionuclides deposited or absorbed on the soil is useful to assess the radiation hazards due to radioactivity releases from nuclear installations. This work describes the depth profile of long lived radionuclides 137Cs, 239+240Pu and 241Am absorbed onto the Tarapur soil from the radwaste releases and the pick-up of then radionuclides by the locally grown grass.
