Early fault detection systems in experimental fast reactor 'JOYO' introduction of primary coolant main pump start-up and stop sequence trigger recording system, pipe thermal displacement measuring system and detection of sodium leakage with infrared thermography

Description

For operating the plant of the experimental fast reactor 'JOYO' safely and stably, it is important to promptly detect and respond to the anomaly of facilities and equipment. As the devices to detect the plant anomaly of 'JOYO,' there are primary coolant main circulation pump state recording system, pipe thermal displacement measuring system, and portable compact infrared thermography. This paper reports the devices that promptly detect the anomaly of the plant. In the primary coolant main circulation pump state recording system, it has become possible to grasp in detail the control state and the behaviors during operation of the primary coolant main circulation pump, and to easily identify the cause at the time of anomaly. In the pipe thermal displacement measuring system, it can be confirmed from the measurement data that the structure (pipe) is sound since there is no sticking in the piping support device and the thermal displacement of each part is within allowable values. The portable compact infrared thermography was found to be effective for on-site monitoring of the environment where a room was full of smoke at a fire site or during sodium leak. 'JOYO' is currently in a long-term shutdown state, but with these devices, it is possible to promptly detect anomaly in the plant during reactor operation as well as during reactor shutdown. (A.O.)

Abstract (Japanese)

高速実験炉「常陽」のプラントを安全・安定に運転していくには、設備・機器の異常を早期に検知して対応することが重要である。「常陽」のプラント異常を検知する装置として、1次主循環ポンプ現象記録装置、配管熱変位測定装置、可搬式簡易赤外線サーモグラフィなどがある。本件は、プラントの異常を早期検知する装置について報告する。1次主循環ポンプ現象記録装置においては、1次主循環ポンプの制御状態及び運転状態の挙動が詳細に把握でき、異常時の原因究明が容易にできるようになった。配管熱変位測定装置においては、測定データから配管支持装置に固着がなく、各部の熱変位が許容値内であることから、構造物(配管)が健全であることが確認できている。可搬式簡易赤外線サーモグラフィにおいては、火災現場やナトリウム漏洩時の室内に煙が充満した環境下における現場監視に有効であることが分かった。「常陽」は現在、長期停止状態にあるが、これらの装置により、原子炉運転時はもちろん、原子炉停止時もプラントの早期異常検知を可能としている。(著者)
