Radiobiological investigations on the effect of negative π-mesons

Description
The relative biological effectiveness in the plateau and peak regions, respectively, of the depth dose curve was determined in each case by irradiating V79 cell cultures and V79 spheroids with negative π-mesons under aerobic conditions. This resulted in RBE-values for the cell cultures of approximately 1.1 (plateau) and 1.8 (peak), respectively, as compared with Co-gamma irradiation, referred to a survival rate of 10%. The corresponding RBE values for spheroids are approximately 1 (plateau) and 1.5 (peak), respectively. (orig.)

Durch Bestrahlung von V79-Zellrasen und V79-Sphaeroiden mit negativen π-Mesonen unter aeroben Bedingungen wurde die relative biologische Wirksamkeit im Plateau- bzw. Peakbereich der Tiefendosiskurve jeweils ermittelt. Dabei ergeben sich fuer Zellrasen RBE-Werte von ungefaehr 1,1 (Plateau) bzw. 1,8 (Peak) im Vergleich zu Co-γ-Bestrahlung, bezogen auf eine Ueberlebensrate von 10%. Die entsprechenden RBE-Werte fuer Sphaeroide lauten ungefaehr 1 (Plateau) bzw. 1,5 (Peak). (orig.)
