The matrix element for inelastic scattering by a crystal

Description
It is demonstrated that for a rigid-lattice model of a crystal, the quantity analogous to the ion-core recoil momentum for inelastic scattering of fast electrons by a single atom is the initial-state band momentum of the ejected crystal electron. (author)
