EIR concept for the combination of organ exposure

Description

There are no bases for assessment formulated by the legislator as far as simultaneous internal and external irradiation is concerned, something which often occurs in the case of persons occupationally exposed to radiation. This is the reason why a concept was developed which allows the overall radiation to be determined in practice. A linear dose-risk relation is taken as a basis. The measure for the overall radiation is a value without dimension (radiation index Bi). The value Bi = 1 is identical with the maximum permissible annual exposure, Bi = 0,5 with the quartely one. Abstract (German)

Bei gleichzeitiger innerer und aeusserer Bestrahlung verschiedener Organe fehlen vom Gesetzgeber formulierte Beurteilungsgrundlagen. Bei beruflich strahlenexponierten Personen treten oft solche Faelle auf, weshalb ein Konzept zur praktischen Ermittlung der Gesamtstrahlenbelastung entworfen wurde. Als Grundlage wird eine lineare Dosis-Risiko Beziehung angenommen. Das Mass fuer die Gesamtstrahlenbelastung ist eine dimensionslose Groesse (Belastungsindex BI). Der Wert BI = 1 entspricht der maximal zulaessigen Jahresbelastung, BI = 0,5 der maximal zulaessigen Quartalsbelastung. (orig.)
