Inequivalent canonical quantizations in quantum gravity
Description
It is explicitly shown in quantum gravity that given a Lagrangian density apart from a total divergence, the equal-time commutators between field operators can depend on the choice of canonical variables. It is shown, however, that canonical quantizations which do not reproduce the equal-time commutators of the manifestly covariant canonical formalism of quantum gravity are not physically acceptable.
