Gaseous and frozen-up converters as ultracold neutron sources

Description

Ultracold neutron yields from hydrogen, deuterium, helium, air at different temperatures and from a group of frozen-up materials (water, heavy water, alcohols at a temperature of 80 deg K) obtained experimentally are presented. These values are in a satisfactory agreement with the calculations. The ultracold neutron yield from hydrogen at room temperature does not differ from the ultracold neutron yield from water. The yield of ultracold neutrons from frozen-up water is 23 times higher than that from aluminium
