Description

The nuclei 107Pd, 109Cd and 111Cd have been studied using proton-, 13C- and 18O-induced reactions. Fourteen bands were observed in 109Cd and the yrast cascade was extended to Iπ=(51/2-). Two of the bands consist of ΔI=1 transitions. In 107Pd the present level scheme includes three bands, while in 111Cd with much lower reaction cross section only the yrast cascade was observed. Experimental routhians and aligned angular momenta as well as B(M1)/B(E2) ratios were extracted and used, together with the predictions of TRS and CSM calculations, to assign quasiparticle configurations to the bands. In several bands, the neutron h11/2 alignment was observed and the alignment frequency was found to be sensitive to the deformation and to the neutron number. Shape change effects are discussed.
