The calculation of differential response functions from latitude surveys. 1. Theory
- 1. Potchefstroom Univ. for C.H.E. (South Africa)
- 2. C.S.I.R., Pretoria (South Africa)
Description
A theoretical review is given of existing and new methods to calculate the differential rate of a cosmic ray detector from latitude surveys. The discussion is mainly in terms of the basis assumptions with the aim to evaluate the applicability of the methods to the data. It is concluded that none of the methods are superior due to the divergent criteria to be met by the respective methods
