Well logging method and apparatus

Description

Methods and apparatus are provided forlogging an earth formation using a high-energy, high-intensity photon source. At least three indications of the total number of photons returning to a borehole as a resultof the interaction of emitted photons and the surrounding media are obtained at a different separation from the source along the borehole and are compared. Photons are obtained from a high-energy pulsed source. The method is particularly useful for obtaining a density profile of the surrounding media. (LL)
