Basic flow rate characteristics of natural circulation of marine reactors at inclined attitude

  • 1. Ship Research Inst., Tokyo (Japan)

Description

Basic features of natural circulation of marine reactors at inclined attitude were examined by using a two-loop model of an integrated-type marine reactor. It was found that the basic characteristics of circulation-flow-rate curves plotted against inclination angle are determined by the ratio of the elevation difference to the horizontal distance between the core and heat exchanger. Sub-loop circulation occurs in the model core and causes normal circulation to sustain up to a certain inclination angle beyond 90 deg.. A slightly modified one-dimensional analytical model was found to give satisfactory results of analysis for inclined two-loop systems. (author)
