Optical identification of the transient X-ray source A1524-61
- 1. Anglo-Australian Observatory, Epping (Australia)
Description
The identification of the transient X-ray source A1524-61 with a faint optical nova is proposed. From consideration of the optical and X-ray light curves, as well as the optical-to-X-ray luminosity ratio, this object appears strikingly similar to the outstandingly bright X-ray nova A0620-00 (= 1975 Nova Mon = V616 Mon).
