Radiation protection of an electron linear accelerator during radioisotope production

Description
The radiation protection (RP) of the linear electron accelerator (LEA) for production of medical radioisotopes is described. This LEA is created and put into operation on the LEA basis with the energy up 2000 MeV, the RP whereof was used as the basis for a new LEA. The calculational results and experimental dta on the equivalent and absorbed does rates for the targets from aluminium and tantalum are presented. These results are used for calculating the dose rate beyond the existing concrete shied two meters thick for the electron energy of 25-100 MeV. It is shown that the established protection, technical and organization measures provide for the absorbed does rate below the maximum permissible one
Abstract (Russian)
Описывается радиационная защита (РЗ) линейного ускорителя электронов (ЛУЭ) для наработки медицинских радиоизотопов. Этот ЛУЭ создан и запущен на базе ЛУЭ с энергией до 2000 МэВ, РЗ которого легла в основу защиты нового ЛУЭ. Приведены результаты расчетов и экспериментальные данные о мощности эквивалентной и поглощенной доз для мишеней из алюминия и тантала. Эти результаты используются для расчета мощности дозы за существующей бетонной защитой толщиной 2 м для энергии электронов 25-100 МэВ. Показано, что установленная защита, технические и организационные мероприятия обеспечивают мощность поглощенной дозы ниже предельно допустимойAdditional details
