- 1. Qinghua Univ., Beijing, BJ (China). Inst. of Nuclear Energy Technology
Description
To prepare UO2 kernels of the fuel elements used for the HTGR-10 (10 MW high temperature gas-cooled reactor), a new kind of sol-gel process-so-called total-gelation process (TGU) has been developed .This paper summarizes the mechanism and advantages of the TGU process. Optimized procedure and the control of some key steps are reported. The comparison between TGU process and traditional sol-gel processes is given. The excellent performance of the kernel product and the progress situation of the TGU process are reported
