Description
The author discusses how it appears that indirect methods of labeling proteins with 99mTc, in which a strong chelating group is attached to the protein, is likely to solve the instability problems evident in direct labeling methods. Nevertheless, it is doubtful whether 99mTc will become the label of choice for radioimmunoscintigraphy because of its short physical half-life. The author suggests that it is necessary to decide whether radioiodine of 111In is the superior label. However, the goal of clinical studies is usually the detection of tumor and a definitive answer to the questions of which label is superior must await the results of comparative studies. At present, it is probably safe to conclude that in the abdomen where 111In is the superior label.
