Renewable energy in France in 2019 - Monitoring implementation of Directive 2009/28/EC on the promotion of use of energy from renewable sources - April 2020

Description

The share of energy from renewable sources in France's gross final energy consumption was provisionally estimated at 17.2% in 2019, showing a steady increase over ten years. This strong growth in renewable energy since 2005 is due, for the most part, to the sharp rise in use of bio-fuels, solid biomass, heat pumps, wind power and photovoltaic solar energy. In 2019, the share of renewable energies shows a 0.6 point rise, in particular driven by the growing wind power and heat pumps production
