Radiopharmaceuticals in Czechoslovakia

Description
The history is briefly described of the production of radiopharmaceuticals in Czechoslovakia for nuclear medicine purposes. 131I-labelled orthoiodohippurate and rose Bengal were first produced. Currently, 99mTc is the most frequently requested radionuclide for radiopharmaceutical labelling. The preparation of 99mTc is described in detail, a flow chart is shown and the network of 99mTc distribution to hospitals outlined. In addition of 99mTc and 131I, UJV Rez produces other radionuclides for nuclear medicine, such as 113mIn, 67Ga, 35S, 32P, 203Hg, 85Sr. The methods are being developed of the production of 201Tl, 125I and 131I-labelled bromosulfophthalein.
