Langmuir solitons in magnetized plasmas
Description
An investigation is made of the nonlinear interaction between a high frequency (Langmuir) wave, which propagates at an arbitrary angle to a weak, constant magnetic field and low frequency (ion-cyclotron or ion-sound) perturbations. In studying Langmuir envelope solitons the previous theories are unified and expanded. The possibilities of steady-state solitons both in 1-dimension (filamentation) and higher dimensions is also discussed. (author)
