A tin-119 Moessbauer investigation of the thermal decomposition of tin(IV)hydroxides
Description
The gel formed by alkaline precipitation of aqueous tin(IV)chloride and allowed to dry at room temperature gives a single somewhat broad line Moessbauer spectrum. The transformation of this material to stannic oxide proceeds through intermediate dehydration species which give quadrupole split Moessbauer spectra reflecting the initial increase and subsequent decrease in asymmetry at the tin oxyhydroxide nucleus. The electric field gradient at the tin nucleus in stannic oxide is attributed to its crystal structure rather than deviation from stoichiometry. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
(orig.)Additional details
