Influence of zirconium ion concentration in model extraction systems TBP - diluents - Zr +4 - nitric acid
Description
Stability of emulsions is slightly increased by zirconium ions in systems containing TBP only. Addition of MBP gives precipitates stabilizing the emulsion increasing the difficulty of separation. Addition of DBP increases the stability of emulsions more than MBP, especially for high concentrations of zirconium and low concentration of nitric acid. In both cases kerosene gives emulsions more stable than carbon tetrachloride
