Resistive measurement of local void fraction

Description

Consideration is given to the problems pertaining to the resistive method of measuring the local steam content in nucleate boiling. It is proved that the most acceptable method is the resistive one with the use of alternating current for supplying the probe circuit. The peculiarity of the instrument invented for the purpose is that the measuring unit consisting of a probe and the boiling surface is inserted in the circuit comprising an AC generator and a resistor. The signal packed off the resistor is fed to the amplifier and then the shaped signal of a constant amplitude (10 V AC) comes to the frequency meter. The frequency meter indicates the relative time of the probe presence in the liquid. The sensor design is illustrated and the block diagram of the instrument for measuring the local steam content is provided
