Description

We study about seamless cavity made from our high purity Nb materials as research for lower cost fabrication than present process. Seamless cavity is applied hydroforming process from seamless tube, i.e. direct cavity-shape forming without EB welding process at cell equator and iris area. Single cell and three-cell seamless cavity was successfully formed. Single cell cavity showed Eacc max = 37 MV/m. In order to suppress a surface roughness in case of tube deformation, we modified a spinning machine so that we could obtain a high dimensional accuracy tube with small crystal grain. About 30 % reduction of grain size was observed in an improved seamless tube. Also, material yield increased to 24 % according to omit the machining from tube fabrication process. (author)
