A CP violation and rare kaon decay experiment at Fermilab

Description

The E731 collaboration at Fermilab has collected enough K → 2π events to give a statistical error of ∼0.5 /times/ 10/sup /minus/3/ on the CP violation parameter ε'/ε. Improvements have been made to reduce the systematic error. The experiment is also sensitive to many rare decays, and it set a new limit on the branching ratio of K/sub L/ → π0e+e/sup /minus//, < 4.2 /times/ 10/sup /minus/8/ (90% CL). 10 refs., 15 figs., 1 tab
