Method of orbits and Virasoro Ward identity
Description
Using the Kirillov-Kostant method of orbits for the Virasoro group, the Virasoro Ward identity is derived as a result of left (diff S1-invariance. It is pointed out that this can be defined only on the 'model' space, not on each coadjoint orbit. This also clarifies the geometrical meaning of Virasoro symmetry with respect to the geometric action. (orig.)
