Chemical interaction of titanium and zirconium hydroxides with barium and strontium hydroxide aqueous solutions

  • 1. Moskovskij Inst. Tonkoj Khimicheskoj Tekhnologii (USSR)

Description

The interaction of titanium and zirconium hydroxides with aqueous solutions of strontium and barium hydroxides within the temperature range of 20-100 deg C is studied using the DTA and infrared spectroscopy, chemical and X-ray phase analyses. The initial hydroxide ratio M2:M4 is 1.05. The interaction time is varied from 10 to 2 houps. In the interaction process amorphous phases of mixed hydroxides are found to be formed with the ratio M2:M4=0.9-1.5, which give during their crystal aging the hydrated titanates and zirconates: SrTiO3x0.9-1.0 H2O; BaTiO3x1.2-1.5 H2O; BaZrO3x1.8-2.3 H2O
