The status of thyroid autoregulation in subject exposed to 131I under endemic conditions

The author attempted to functionally and morphologically assess the contribution of radiation to changed autoregulation of thyroid function by assessing the status of C cells. The hormonal homeostasis of subjects has been assessed, in whom the thyroid was exposed to 131I in doses of 50 to 900 sSv under conditions of an endemic region. A total of 465 adults and 681 children were examined. Doses of 200 to 500 sSv were associated with normalization of serum concentrations of T3, T4, and TTH and an increase calcitonin content. Fluorescent microscopy revealed an appreciable accumulation of acetylcholine granules in the thyroid C cells. These data indicate a much more expressed involution of the secreting epithelium of the thyroid as a result of 1'31I incorporation in the said doses

Оценено состояние гормонального гомеостаза лиц, подвергшихся воздействию 131I на щитовидную железу в диапазоне доз 50-900 сЗв в условиях эндемической местности. Обследованию подвергнуты 465 взрослых и 681 ребенок. В дозовом диапазоне 200-500 сЗв отмечена нормализация концентраций Т3, Т4, ТТГ в сыворотке и повышение содержания кальцитонина. При люминесцентной микроскопии выявлено значительное накопление гранул ацетилхолина в С-клетках щитовидной железы. Полученные данные свидетельствуют о значительно более выраженной инволюции секретирующего эпителия щитовидной железы при инкорпорации 131I в указанном дозовом диапазонеAdditional details
