Description

Differential cross-sections and polarization in scattering of low-energy neutrons ((<=)1.5 MeV) on nuclei of medium mass number A are calculated on the basis of shell approach to the problem of scattering. A method for quantitative calculation of the mean value of S-matrix in the case of low energies of scattered particles is developed. Results are compared to those of calculations in terms of optical model (OM), i.e. with the same parameters of the real part of potential and with W=-Gsub(s)/2. The calculation results confirm the existence of an effect related to Fermi filling of one-particle states when neutron polarization is being determined. Unlike OM, essential isotopic dependence of results is observed. The calculation results for differential cross-sections are practically identical to those in terms of OM model
