Improvements in the description of the background spectrum in EPMA
Description
With the purpose of advancing in the Peak-To-Background technique in EPMA, Lifshin's and Reed's corrections of Kramers'model for the background spectrum are studied. Special attention is paid to the low energy region (below 3 KeV) in which there is no proper description of experimental data, Bremsstrahlung radiation from the beryllium window is also taken into account, considering the energy distribution of backscattered electrons.
