Heliomagnetic cycle in geomagnetic activity

  • 1. AN SSSR, Yakutsk. Inst. Kosmofizicheskikh Issledovanij i Aehronomii

Description

According to long time series of various characteristics of geomagnetic activity differential relations of the activity levels in even-odd 11-year solar cycles are analysed. It is shown that the 22-year variation of the disturbance of magnetic field of the Earth occurs for all phases of the solar cycle. The heliomagnetic cycle of integral activity amplitude disintegrates into two approximately antiphase components corresponding to moderate and (very) large disturbances. Moderate disturbances more frequently appear in minimum, on the development branch and in maximum of the odd 11-year solar cycle and on the even drop branch. The effect is determined by the corresponding periodic variation of the quasidipole solar field. Large and very large disturbances more frequently appear in minimum and in a phase of even cycle growth as well as at the odd rear front
