Investigations of phase changing in alpha-quartz irradiated by neutrons, using optical methods

Description
The vibration spectroscopy method was used to specify the dynamics of α-quartz irradiated by fast neutrons.within the range of normal vibrations. A specific change of I and w bands of symmetric valence (ws= 797 cm-1), deformation (wd=475 cm-1), asymmetric valence (was= 1110, 1180 cm-1) vibrations Si-0-Si, as well as the other degenerated modes for 696,265,128 cm-1 was discovered. I band 797,1110 cm-1 intensively decreases near (4-7) ·1019 cm-2, and w changes extremely. The function was (F) value of the second mode is the lowest at 4·1019 cm-2. According to the spectrograms, the largest changes of I, w (and computed k, wk) take place at 4·1019 < F < 7·1019 cm-2 , where the intensive α-β phase transition (PT) is observed with X-rays. Approximation of the radiation kinetics of optical parameters changing was carried out. The parameters study in terms of the percolation theory, on a base of the infinite cluster model, is carried out to consider a possible mechanism of the radiation PT (K-AS) in quartz
