Carbon K-shell X-ray and Auger-electron cross sections and fluorescence yields in benzene bombarded by 0.6 to 2.0 MeV protons

Description
Carbon K-shell and Auger electron cross sections were measured by 0.6-2.0 MeV proton bombardment of C6H6. The ionization cross sections are compared to the first Born and perturbed stationary state theories, and are in agreement with both within experimental uncertainties. The fluorescence yield, evalutated as a ratio of the X-ray to the ionization cross section, shows a slight decrease with the decreasing proton energy which is attributed to multiple ionization effects.
