Description
Bis-triazinyl-pyridine (BTP) are known in the domain of liquid-liquid extraction as complexing agents for lanthanides. The adequate grafting of BTP on a quartz crystal micro-balance (QCM) has allowed us to demonstrate the feasibility of the detection of lanthanide cations in aqueous solutions with a QCM. We have also studied the behaviour of BTP towards the following 2 cations: neodymium (Nd3+) and europium (Eu3+) with the help of XPS and PM-IRRAS at the surface of QCM. It has been shown that BTP has more affinity toward neodymium than toward europium. (A.C.)
