Kinetics of technetium reactions. XIII. Reduction of Tc(VII) with hydroxyethylhydrazine

  • 1. Bochvar All-Russian Research Institute of Inorganic Materials, Moscow (Russian Federation)

Description

2-Hydroxethylhydrazine reduces Tc(VII) to Tc(IV) with formation of TcCl-5 ions. The rate of this reaction in HCl solution obeys the equation -d[Tc(VII)]/ dt = k[Tc(VII)][HOC2H4N2H+4]0.9[H+]1.4, where k = (8.75 ±0.46) x 10-3 12.3 mol-2.3 min-1 at 25 degrees C and μ = 3.1. The reaction mechanism is similar to that of the reaction of Tc(VII) with unsubstituted hydrazine
