X-ray induced changes in L5178Y-R and L5178Y-S cell partition in two polymer aqueous phases
Description
L5178Y-R and L5178Y-S cells differ in radiosensitivity in both oxic and hypoxic conditions by a factor of 1.4. Their behaviour in a two-phase system containing dextran and poly [ethylene glycol] was examined after X-irradiation with 10 Gy under oxic conditions or with 27 Gy under hypoxic conditions. In the more radiosensitive L5178Y-S cells more pronounced changes in partition coefficient (PC) were found at 14 and 25 h after irradiation than in the more resistant L5178Y-R cells. These changes did not depend on the viability of the cell population; the partition procedure affected neither viability nor survival. (author)
