Description
A HTR with low fuel enrichment is just as little limited in its operational flexibility as a HTR with high fuel enrichment. However, fuel cycle costs are higher, especially with a closed fuel cycle, and uranium ore consumption is also higher. The most favourable solution is the HTR with a thorium/uranium fuel cycle. Abstract (German)
Ein HTR mit niedriger Brennstoffanreicherung ist ebenso wie ein HTR mit hoher Anreicherung in seiner betrieblichen Flexibilitaet nicht eingeschraenkt. Allerdings werden die Brennstoffzykluskosten insbesondere bei geschlossenen Brennstoffkreislaeufen poenalisiert und ein hoeherer Uranerzverbrauch ist erforderlich. Am guenstigsten wird daher der HTR im Thorium/Uran-Brennstoffkreislauf betrieben. (orig.)Additional details
