Development of a compact Ku-Band ECR ion source with two resonance zones

  • 1. High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, Tanashi Branch, Tanashi, Tokyo (Japan)

Description

A new compact ECR ion source with two resonance zones, i.e., basic ECR zone and second Bernstein one, was made and examined for some characteristic properties at Ku-Band. This source is composed of permanent magnets basically and mounted with both an axial and radial RF ports. The effectiveness of the second Bernstein zone for the ion beam production was verified experimentally by use of this source. (author)
