Description
In this study, the target lifting device prototype based on travelling magnetic field was proposed to realize the circulation of tungsten alloy particles used in ADS. The three-phase current was used in a set of solenoids to engender travelling magnetic field. The travelling magnetic field acts on the targets, so that alloy particle targets are driven by the magnetic force. The variety of amplitude and frequency of three-phase current can result in different magnetic forces and speeds for the targets. The magnetic force, magnetic field distribution and the effect of amplitude and frequency of current were discussed using Ansys Maxwell in this paper. Based on the numerical analysis, the experiments of the lifting device were finished. The experimental results show that the lifting device prototype can realize the circulation of targets. (authors)
