Effect of alginic acid preparations on radiostrontium retention in rats
Description
Rats contaminated by an intragastral intubation of 85zSr were fed afterwards with alginic acid preparations containing various amounts of guluronic and mannuronic acids. Whole body and skeletal retention of the radionuclide was determined and compared with that found in the control rats, which had not received tha alginic acid. A more than 70% reduction of the 85Sr retention was observed when an administration of a preparation, rich in guluronic acid, started at 45-th minute after the contamination. (author)
