Intermediate structure in strongly damped 12C+24Mg reactions of the orbiting type

Description
Backward-angle cross sections of 12C + 24Mg for fixed Q-values in the region of complete damping display fluctuations in the range of energies between Esub(cm) = 30 MeV and 38 MeV. The extracted coherence width provides evidence for a long-lived intermediate dinuclear configuration. (orig.)
