The first circle extraction of Purex process using Americium-241 as Plutonium simulation

Description
The investigation of first circle extraction of purex process using americium as a plutonium simulation has been done. The concentration of uranium in the extraction feed and uranyl nitrate acidity were variated. The influences of contact time, uranium concentration in the extraction feed and uranyl nitrate acidity towards distribution coefficient of americium, americium and plutonium extracted in organic phase were studied. The relative best results were reached at uranyl nitrate acidity of 2.5 N and contact time of 50 minutes. The influence of uranium concentration in the extraction feed was negligible
