Compression modes and the nuclear matter incompressibility coefficient

  • 1. Cyclotron Institute, Texas A and M Univ., Texas (United States)

Description

Studies of isoscalar giant monopole resonances (ISGMR) and isoscalar giant dipole resonances (ISGDR) are of particular current interest since their strength distributions, S(E), are sensitive to the value of nuclear matter incompressibility coefficient, K. In this work the long standing problem of the conflicting results for K have been considered, deduced from experimental data on excitation cross sections σ(E) for the ISGDR and data for the ISGMR
