Amperometric determination of vanadium(3) and vanadium(4) in glasses

Description

A possibility is shown of determining vanadium(3) and vanadium (4) by amperometric titration with complexon 3 when they are simultaneously present in glasses. Titration has been conducted against oxidation current of complexon 3 at a potential of +1.0 V. Phosphorus, barium, silicon, and alkaline metals do not interfere with the determination. Aluminium effect has been ruled out by introduction of sodium fluoride. The error of determination does not exceed 3%. The method of determining vanadium in glasses has been proposed on the basis of the research conducted. A number of glasses and an artificial mixture have been analyzed using the method proposed
