Influence of higher waste loading on crystallization of titanosilicate glass-ceramics

Description

Sphene (CaTiSiO5) is obtained as the main crystalline phase in Na2O-Al2O3-CaO-TiO2-SiO2 glass-ceramics containing up to approx. 15 wt% of simulated nuclear fuel recycle waste, by maintaining the precursor glass at approx. 10500C for sufficient time to allow nucleation and crystal growth. The implications for production of an engineering-scale waste form are discussed
