Radiation doses to children in X-ray examinations of thoracic cavity organs and stomach
- 1. Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Inst. Rentgenologii i Radiologii, Moscow (USSR)
Description
Dependence of radiation doses to separate organs and tissues on the age and height of children in X-ray examinations of thoracic cavity organs and stomach is investigated. Dosimetric examinations were carried out using tissue-equivalent phantoms of children (new-born childs, 1, 5, 8, 15 years old) using thermoluminescent dosemeters. Dynamics of changing dose equivalent rates of some organs and tissues in children depending on the age is presented. Irregular geometric ratio changes of separate body parts in children cause corresponding change of irradiation geometry and change of radiation doses to children
